UK gas prices to jump as Qatar rules supply – British reliance on LNG imports rises

Kuwait Times -- British gas prices are likely to become more volatile and prone to spikes over the next few years after the UK has moved from self-sufficiency to increasing dependence on imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar.

The latest UK government data show Qatari LNG imports were equivalent to 52 percent of the gas consumed over the first nine months of 2011, up from 11 percent for 2009 as a whole.
Qatar also accounted for 85 percent of UK LNG supplies between January and November last year, with Nigeria a weak second at just 5 percent. Britain’s gas market is exposed to diversions of Qatari ships to countries that pay more, to shipping restrictions or unplanned outages on production facilities.

See how Kuwait is setting up the UK for there hike in LNG pricing. When you talk long enough people just put up with it and pay through the nose.

Why are we letting the Brit's buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar? We should be selling it to them. The USA and Canada and the UK should all be working together and put those middle east suckers out of bizness.

So, one day, Qatar can buy the UK with the pounds they get? What a change in fortune. Hope they find a way out soon enough.

The civil free world Christian countries should have never started negotiating with the radical, greedy ungodly countries in the first place.

Perhaps if we had negotiated with only the ones who respect and believe as we do (or did when we became a country), we would not be in this mess nor have to be concerned about what the America-hating countries are doing about gas and other imports and exports.

It's never too late to ask God for forgiveness, and turn from our wicked ways. God said He would forgive our sins and heal our land. There is still hope.

At least BP's destruction of the Gulf of Mexico didn't translate to lower Brit Gas prices.

Not only is it "Fascinating", I find it "amazing" that so many continue to believe that the mantra, "Drill baby Drill" will lower oil prices.

Say it again everyone, "Drill, baby Drill" and again, Drill baby Drill, and again, Drill, baby Drill, and again, and again, and again, Drill baby Drill!

Keep believing in the mantra, "Drill, baby drill" and maybe, just maybe we will achieve energy price "nirvana".

Maybe the Brits ought to ask the Yanks if they can buy their Natural Gas from them instead. Just a thought.

If the US were to see the prices being paid in the UK they would be shocked.

This is what happens when a nation is not self-sufficient and has to beg.

Hear that Washington DC?

Stop shutting down our domestic production.

Maybe if Britain was dominated by the "green" they could do more exploration and be less dependent on foreign sources for their fuel.

When gas was first discovered in the Southern North Sea in the early 60s it the gas reserves would only last 20 years, so they have had a good run for their money.
