THIS PIPELINE NEEDS TO BE RE-ROUTED FROM TEXAS TO TEXAS...YES I SAID FROM TEXAS TO TEXAS OR AN OF OUR 50 STATES...WE ARE ONE OF THE BIGGEST EXPORTERS OF OIL, YET, WE HAVE "LITTLE TO NONE IN OUR RESERVES"? AS EVERYTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD IT ALL COMES DOWN TO MAKING $$$-AND FORGET GAS FOR A SECOND-WE STILL HAVE PEOPLE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY WHO ARE STARVING...SAD, SAD...SAD!!!

How is Canadian crude "US natural resources"?

No Keystone XL means cheaper Canadian crude? Maybe, Maybe Not! If Big oil and refineries would NOT export fuel and natural gas to other countries for additional profit, the price of fuel at the pump would be much lower. These are US natural resources that belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Barry will support natural gas and oil production to pay for his ‘spending gone wild’ addiction. Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Okay, both sides of the story. Probably not more than half truths in either. If its got anything to do with oil and the government, you can bet the best interests of the people are secondary. The corporations pulling the strings of the political puppets are getting the last word. And I dont thing anything will make the crude cheaper. Why should it be? They have a willing buyer across the globe. You scream about business. Here it is, and it goes against us. And then its wrong. Wake up people...just because we snap our fingers, people arent giving us our way anymore. Thats just a fact. This country has more enemies than allies. And we did it to ourselves.

How about we switch to Natural Gas and forget about the oil trade. This talk and no action is getting old...quick.

Yeah. If somebody got a job for five years, they counted it as job-years and said it was five jobs.

judgemobile - "perhaps the 20,000 or more people who will now NOT get jobs because the pipeline is not being built--they (and their families and friends) will express their rage to O'Bummer at the polls in November."
Except that most of those 20,000 jobs were never anything but hot air, intended to blow Congress into supporting higher gas prices for the US.

Who are you supposed to believe? No one has been forward with their messages. They can 'lie' like champs and change results by skewing the data they have available.

Since it seems to only be in their interest, let them build one in their own country.

It seems like some one is on drugs. Cheap oil price in Canada. That has not translated at the pumps. The pumps in Canada seem to be all over the map.

I doubt if the pipeline goes through that it will bring gas prices down. Oil companies use just about any excuse to bring up gas prices. Like Iran's threat.

“Nice article but since I don't live in Canada I'd prefer we do the pipeline so we can have lower prices here.”
Hey Beaver, it would be good if you had actually read the article before commenting. The main point made is that building the pipeline would result in higher prices in the US.

No surprise. The real question is: Will it translate into cheaper prices at the pump for Canadian and U.S. consumers???

Fine. Keep the prices low. Keep the oil at home. The US would be well advised to do that as well.

"... don't higher oil prices hurt the economy and lead to job losses? Chew on that one."
.
Which was the exact same conclusion that Cornell University reached in it's study on the Keystone XL pipeline.
The study's authors even went on to state, that the 10- to 20- cent per gallon increase motorists would see in the central U.S., would in one-year, offset all of the job-gains for the entire project.
As I have stated here in the past, Harper is trying to play the U.S. for Patsies.

Methinx that with a little more aggressive marketing and arranging the proper shipping via Kitimat or anywhere else on Canada's west coast, we Canadians shouldn't have to "give away" our oil at deep discount prices. As it is, most Canadians pay at least a dollar more per gallon at the pumps than our neighbours to the south.
I'm all for helping out a neighbour. Don't get me wrong. But until you 'Murikens start paying real world prices, you're never going to learn the real meaning of the word "conserve."

To nurdco - refineries in the area will have the same effect as building the pipeline, market for the oil If you can't get the oil to market what good does a low price do Increase supply and the price drops, without the pipeline the supply cannot get to refiners, therefore supply does not exist to the markets

people want away from middle east oil but block getting oil from places much closer
PICK ONE PEOPLE
either accept giving money to the middle east where the terrorist camps is or stop blocking ways to get oil from other places much friendlier to us

Why isn't there a new pipeline to the U.S.? Who's stopping it? God knows we need help. We are most always there for everyone else, where are America's friends when we are in trouble? I'm not too proud to ask for something that will benefit our country, but not to the extent that it will cause higher taxes to pay them off. If all the countries paid us back for all they owe us, perhaps we could get out of debt and help others more and ourselves.

Wait till the start selling to China and see how high the price will go. It is dropping now because they have no way to transport it so it can be sold.
